Our Story: From Annual Tradition to Lifelong Passion

Dorintosh Saskatechewan

Roots That Run Deep

The story of the Dorintosh Motel didn't start with a business plan; it started with a father, a son, and a love for the Saskatchewan wilderness.

Our connection to Dorintosh dates back to the mid-90s, but my first personal introduction to this special corner of the world was in 2004. My dad brought me here for our first Whitetail Deer hunt, and from that moment on, it became our annual tradition. For years, these woods and waters were the backdrop for some of our favourite memories.

A Return to Our Favorite Place

Life has a way of bringing you back to where you belong. In 2019, after a few years away, a quick trip to visit old friends in Dorintosh opened an unexpected door. We had the opportunity to purchase a local guiding outfit, and by 2021, we were officially back in the area we loved so much.

We spent so much time at the motel while running our outfitting business that it truly became our "home away from home." When our friend—the previous owner—approached us in 2024 about taking over the reins, it didn’t just make sense; it felt like it was meant-to-be.

Our Vision for the Future

Today, we are proud to be the stewards of this local landmark. Our goal is simple:

  • Honoring Tradition: We continue to host our own annual hunting and fishing trips here every spring and fall, keeping the spirit of the northern woods alive.

  • Building for Tomorrow: We are committed to Dorintosh's long-term future. We are slowly and lovingly renovating the motel to ensure that this "small motel in a small town" remains a comfortable, welcoming place for travelers for years to come

Whether you’re here to hunt, fish, explore Meadow Lake Provincial Park, or just need a quiet place to rest your head, we invite you to be a part of our story. We’re more than just a motel—we’re a family-run basecamp built on a lifetime of northern adventures.
